Dark River is the Brazilian dark psychedelic trance project started in 2006 by the musician and producer Carlos Mota (aka Nose, founder of Psychotic Viridis Records).

Carlos Mota was born in 1980 and initiated his musical career by learning the guitar at the age of 12. By 15 he and high school friends assembled their first band called Atomic Gonorrhea which after a while changed its name to Betrayer. By 16 he started playing his first gigs in metal festivals in his hometown, along with the bands Jullie At Lewis, João Pestana, C.O.R.E. and others, recording some demos. The interest in musical production was always there, since Carlos produced some of this raw metal demos. By 1998 when he was 18 he had a initial contact with the underground culture of dance music, when suddenly his city Manaus had an increase on its electronic musical scene.

That was ignited after the Ecosystem Festival, when the local public and party producers got really excited about those "new "kinds of partying. After a brief stage using Fruity Loops the project Amazonic Plastic Garden was created, where he could let his imagination flow in order to create different sonic landscapes with influences of jazz, rock, drum and bass, techno and others, obtaing an award from the State..s Culture Department, the award Valores da Terra (Local..s Valours) in 1999/2000. With this project he could play his first live performance of Amazonic Plastic Garden using a Roland Groovebox 303 at Ponta Negra Ampitheater, Manaus (Brazil). For a couple of years since 2001 he had an acoustic rock band with the singer Shona Galbraith. The name of the project was Midnight Express and Carlos Mota played an Yamaha acoustic folk guitar, which he still uses in his recordings. The project recorded a demo called "jam no. 01". The psychedelic trance proved itself to be the most beautiful, intriguing and out-of-this-world style for Carlos Mota back in 2002. That occured because of some awesome psychedelic parties he had attended on that year on Rio de Janeiro, and Manaus, too. Psytrance productions seemed really intricate and polished to him, since he was into producing jazzy jungle and experimental techno with Amazonic Plastic Garden.

Between 2003 and 2006 he started djing that heavenly musical style under the name of Nose, contributing to Amazontribe crew and the local..s psychedelic scene, in historical and memorable parties besides the Taruma River or deep inside the woods of Amazonas. The Manaus.. psychedelic scene proved to be very organized with a loyal public of trancers in spite of being a small one. The seasonal Amazontribe..s gatherings include the following parties: Carnatrance, Sun Dreams, Let..s Trance, Amazontribe Festival, Vision Trancer, but there also secondary crews such as Psybrothers, Psyplur and Resistência Amazônica, with parties like Amazohmnika, Off Love, Trance na Floresta, and many others. In 2005 Carlos went on studying production techniques related to psytrance music in the course of the audio enginner Eduardo Sterman in São Paulo (www.2600hz.com.br). In the end of 2006 Carlos Mota started a new project, DARK RIVER, in order to create serious psychedelic trance highly influenced by night and darkpsy and since then has been playing his live sets in the main events of the northern Brazil, and also outside of his state (Festival Fora do Tempo - main stage in 2008). In 2008 he also started his own label, Psychotic Viridis Records, in order to promote great new artists.. music and his own. Carlos Mota released the first Amazonic Plastic Garden..s full lenght album, Cosmovisão (portuguese word meaning Vision of the Cosmos) in 2009, available for digital download, with an psychedelic accent of progressive, electro and chill out. Acoustic guitars were also used in Cosmovisão.
